Concrete Grinding

Concrete grinding and concrete leveling is our specialty!  Getting a concrete floor really flat and level requires precision work, and we have the equipment and skill to achieve the results you need.  New flooring cannot be installed successfully on a surface that isn’t flat and level. It’s like any other surface – without proper preparation, you don’t get a high-quality, lasting finish.  Because we also install flooring, we know how important it is to have a well-prepared, level sub floor.  With the right sub floor preparation, you will enjoy your new floor for a long time to come!

In Arizona, slab foundations are the norm, and concrete grinding is usually the best method for preparing an uneven sub floor.  Contractors and homeowners often discover problems when they remove old flooring, and then don't know who to call to get the problems fixed.  We can help!  Our dustless concrete grinding technique and sophisticated equipment does the job quickly and cleanly, capturing the concrete dust before it can spread – perfect if you are already living in your home.

concrete-grinding-edco-turbo-concrete-floor-grinding-equipmentWe are often asked to repair and flatten concrete sub floors that are so uneven that nobody wants to be responsible for installing flooring over them. Here are some of the issues that professional concrete grinding and concrete leveling can address:

  •     Concrete grinding to remove “humps” that result from heaving, especially in areas that have cracked;

  •     Removal of old mortar and thin set, providing a level, stable surface;

  •     Removal of old coatings such as epoxies, sealers, adhesives and curing agents.  These coatings can prevent your new flooring from bonding with the sub floor.

concrete-grinding-az-level-concrete-grindingBest of all, our dustless concrete grinding technique means that the gritty concrete dust won’t spread throughout your home and your lungs...and there won’t be a mess for you to clean up.

Concrete grinding requires specialized equipment and skill.  We can do either wet or dry concrete grinding.  However, wet concrete grinding creates a lot of messy concrete sludge, and is better suited to outdoor spaces.  Dry concrete grinding, on the other hand, can be the perfect method for smoothing interior floors.  As long as the right equipment and proper dust capture techniques are used, the process is fast and clean.  Because dry concrete grinding heats up the diamond grinding wheels, making them less efficient, we invested in two complete sets of grinders.  We simply switch grinders at regular intervals so we always have a cool blade to work with.

concrete-grinding-cdclarue-concrete-dust-collection-equipmentBecause concrete grinding is usually charged by the hour, our quicker, more efficient process will save you money.  We don’t think you will find anyone else who has invested in the equipment required for our method.  Usually, a contractor will only have one standard 7" grinder.  Not only is a 7" grinder not suited for removing humps, the blade will overheat and become ineffective very quickly.  This means that progress will be much slower and you will be billed for more hours.

We have made a sizeable investment to acquire all the equipment needed to grind concrete floors efficiently, including:

  •    1 - X-1 Total Polishing Systems grinder

  •    2 - Edco 10", 230 volt, 5 HP grinders

  •    4 - CDC Larue PB-1250 industrial vacuums

  •    4 - CDC Larue Hum-b edge grinders

  •    6 - 7" concrete grinders.

az-floor-preparation-hum-b-edge-floor-grinding-equipmentWith the accessories needed to operate this equipment, our investment totals over $30,000.00. Contrast this with the $400 that most installers have invested in a single 7” grinder, and you will understand that you will have the best concrete grinding equipment available working on your project.  And remember that without the right dust  control equipment, your home and everything in it can be covered with concrete dust.  You may have heard horror stories about gritty concrete dust getting into everything in the entire house, making clean-up a long and difficult process.  We can guarantee that this will not happen on our jobs.  If you haven't already, please watch the concrete grinding video above to see a demonstration.
